I remember my great grandfather sitting in his smoking chair at the age of 98. From Naples Italy, he learned how to make homemade Italian red wine, make his own pasta and have a little farm in the Bronx New York. What was cool was that I always knew where he was, and how he was available to minister truth to me. The elderly are such powerful influences to the family. He would tell great stories of hard work, and who influenced him to serve others. We valued him so much just being around him how wonderful it is to have wisdom sitting right in your home, and what a blessing to have three generations under one roof. It should be the privilege of every family to minister to their own kindred and this cannot be the work only of the home but also belongs to the church, and it should be accepted both as a privilege, and as a duty, all who possess Christ spirit will have a tender regard for the elderly and the feeble . Having a grandparent or a great grandparent in our home is a precious opportunity to cooperate with Christ in his ministry of mercy. They develop traits of character by Christ. There is a blessing in the association of the old and the young. The young may bring sunshine into the hearts and lives of the elderly, those who hold on life as we need the benefit of contact with the hopefulness and buoyancy of youth , above all, they need to learn the lesson of unselfish ministry, the presence of someone who is young who can be sympathetic, forbearing and self sacrificing. The love of the young would be to many a household a priceless blessing , it would sweeten and refine a home life and crawl forth the old and the young . Those Christ like graces that would make them beautiful with a divine beauty, and rich in heavens imperishable treasures.
Have a blessed day and walk in love!
