A HEALTH CRISIS CAN CLARIFY...

As a chiropractor, since 1986, I have seen with the loss of health can do to benefit us. On one hand, a crisis helps to shape us into what we can become, but a crisis also reveals what we, in reality, already are . How we react to a health crisis often pulls back the covers on our concealed insecurities, doubts, and very vulnerable places in our faith. I believe that, while the challenges of life can develop a deeper relationship with God, and develop a deeper healthier character, the crisis of life, defines it.
I recall being at a boating club in the 1980s and being asked to get in a rowboat and find out who is screaming in the middle of a hurricane. As I rowed frantically to the other side of the beach, I was hit with the reality that somebody was drowning by the time I reached the two teenagers that were still floating I was exhausted. Those two teenagers were screaming that the third person they couldn’t find in the waves I had to make a decision. Do I save these two in 6 foot waves or do I dive in and look for this third person? In a moments time I dragged the two that were floating into my rowboat, and the third one was found in the bottom of a mooring by a Coast Guardsman a few minutes later.

In times like these, we may need to reset our hearts to see God in the storm, we can readjust our passions toward his purposes, we can re-commit ourselves to His gospel plans in our crazy seasons of deep stress, and uncertainty.  As we do we can trust that God will reshape us into more faithful and fruitful followers of Christ on the other side of any crisis.
As a certified pediatric chiropractor, I deal with babies and toddlers and young children. Every day they have lost their body's ability to function and heal naturally. I am blessed that God shows me the answers to so many of these health, critical issues for children to naturally put them in the healing environment, and watch their little bodies, regenerate and create new healthy tissue. What a blessing to be used by God.
