WHY PEOPLE SEEK A CHIROPRACTOR

One of the reason why people go to a chiropractor is to have their diseases and symptoms prevented. Recently there has been a great deal of emphasis on the prevention of disease. In the past, very little was done in the field of medicine in this area and so the chiropractic profession attempted to fill the void. While disease prevention is not the primary reason why patients seek chiropractic care, it is many times the motivation for pateints to return. The chiropractor may have explained to the patient during the educational program that by keeping his or her body free of vertebral subluxation, he or she has a greater chance of staying healthy and less chance of getting diseases. The ravages and incidence of cancer, heart disease, and other diseases have been so much before the public recently, that many people are willing to do anything to keep from getting sick. The idea of preventing sickness and diease obviously appeals to intelligent people who care about their health. Even if the chiropractor does not educate the patient to the concept of prevention, the patient quite often figures it out for himself or herself. Mrs Jones thinks that if she goes to the chiropractor regularly she won't get those awful headaches because on a few occasions, when she could not make her scheduled visit, the headaches returned. Mr. Jones similarly finds that if he gets checked at the first twinge of pain in the low back, his back will not "go out". If Mr and Mrs Jones bring their children to the chiropractor in early March and through the summer months, they find that the symptoms of hay fever are lessened considerably or non-existent. There are probably many patients who go faithfully to a chiropractor because they fear getting a condition or disease.

Another reason why a patient goes to a chiropractor is to unfold their genetic potential. This is not a very common reason and it is hard to imagine that anybody would walk into a chiropractor 's office and say they were there to improve their genetic material so that they could produce healthier offspring and hopefully contribute to a healthier world in generation to come. Although it is not a reson why very many people originally seek chiropractic care , this reasoning is the basis for the continuation of care by some patients, most notably those of a child-bearing age. This entire concepts reached its major trust in the late 70"s and has since wamed. The concept was based upon some of the writings of  B.J.Palmer and is known as B.J's Utopia. Some chiropractic philosphers have taken this concept of B.J.'s and with the current scientific knowledge concerning genetics, have extrapolated the idea of improving the genetics material and hence future races. It is an intreresting concept but not likelyt to precipitate too many people entering a chiropractic office. Especially those past the child-bearing age!
