Friends and Family of Bellomo Chiropractic Support The Perkins Project
Sometimes a Swim Can Change Your Life Forever!
As a young man in his twenties, Mark enjoyed life to the fullest. A rugged outdoorsman, father of a beautiful three year old; he had a great job and family. Life was nearly perfect, until one Saturday evening. It was late when a bunch of friends were relaxing around the pool. As night progressed the young adults decided to go for a swim. One hurried dive into a pool would tragically transform Mark’s life. After multiple surgeries and almost a year and a half of medical treatment, Mark was left paralyzed from the neck down with limited movements in his arms.
The bathroom inside Mark Perkin’s home is not big enough to accommodate a wheelchair. This means cold showers in the backyard and a lot of heavy lifting for Mark’s parents, who are dedicated to their son’s wellbeing. All other functions are done via portable devices. This leaves no dignity nor hope for independence for either Mark or his parents. The total cost is $20,000 to build a bathroom equipped for his needs. Donations can be made in the form of gift cards for building supplies and groceries and or a cash donation of your choice.
