Leaving the shot controversy for another time, simply checking to see if your child is growing according to a normal mark on a chart is not enough to produce optimal health.  There are many cases where children meet all the bench marks of normalcy while still suffering such things as asthma, allergies, eczema, breast-feeding problems, irritability, scoliosis, ear infections, poor coordination, ADHD, autism and such. Many times the simple adjustments a Pediatric chiropractor makes can bring relief without drugs or other invasive treatment.

Toddlers live a rough life.  Born with a single curve to their spine, around six months of age, the second cervical curve begins to develop.  Tummy time, crawling, developing stronger muscles and even prolonged looking upward, cause this curve to become more pronounced.  As the child begins to stand and walk, the third lumbar curve develops.  While all of this is going on, he is climbing up and falling down, often hitting his head in the process.  Later on he begins running around often falling down as well.  While his body is able to absorb most of the shock such falls bring, sometimes they result in subtle misalignments that put pressure in his delicate nervous system.  This pressure affects whatever organ that particular nerve serves and over time can cause such symptoms as are listed above.

There is an important study being done that compares the rates of autism in vaccinated versus unvaccinated populations.  It’s an important study because it follows the vaccination schedules most of today’s children have to face.

The first phase of this monkey study was published three months ago in the prestigious medical journal Neurotoxicology, and focused on the first two weeks of life when the vaccinated monkeys received a single vaccine for Hepatitis B. The results, which you can read for yourself HERE, were disturbing. Vaccinated monkeys, unlike their unvaccinated peers, suffered the loss of many reflexes that are critical for survival.

The chiropractic profession is a unique part of the health care system. Their premise deals with establishing proper communication between the brain (which controls every part of the body) and every organ, tissue and cell in the body. Improper communication (interference) of messages through the spinal cord causes improper function of the body. In turn, dysfunction can lead to disease or pain. Chiropractors are the only health care professionals who look for and correct these interferences.

As Chiropractic enters it’s second century of practice, it behooves each of us to ponder the question, “Why has chiropractic survived?” What is it that has enabled this profession, which had it’s beginnings in 1895 with a magnetic healer named D.D. Palmer, to not only survive but to thrive over the years and through today’s changing and difficult healthcare times?

What is it that has enabled chiropractic to withstand the blatant and organized opposition by the very powerful AMA to become the largest drugless, alternative, natural healthcare system in the U. S. today?

The answer lies in this, “Flexability and Inflexability”. Chiropractic has been flexible in it’s outer aspects while it has held true to the principle upon which it was founded.

Chiropractic’s founding principle and history is why it has such a stronghold on the natural healing mindset of Americans going into the 21st century.
On September 10,1895; Chiropractic’s founder, D.D. Palmer, was introduced to a deaf janitor, Harvey Lillard. Mr. Lillard expressed to Dr. Palmer that he had heard a popping sound in his neck, followed by a total loss of hearing. Dr. Palmer postulated that if Mr. Lillard could hear before the pop in his neck, the sound must have equated to an injury to one of the vertebra. Dr. Palmer touched his neck and found that a bone was sticking out of place. So he deduced, that this out of place bone could be putting pressure on the spinal chord, causing a blockage in the natural flow of life-giving brain messages. Dr. Palmer placed Mr. Lillard on a table and gave a gentle thrust into the area of the misplaced vertebra (subluxation). Miraculously, his hearing came back 100%.

This chiropractic principle of removing interferance, allowing the body’s inherant natural healing powers to move to and from the vital organs, glands, and muscles of the body; is called an adjustment. When this natural flow of electrical- chemical signals are unimpeded, the body is then able to communicate with the brain, and the brain to communicate with the body, allowing God’s natural laws to take over in the balance of the human body.

What has happened in our society over the last century is that we have decided that “man-made” laws are more organized and work better than the universal laws governed by our Creator, which were orchestrated through nature. So, this opened the door for “man-made” treatments of disease, instead of God’s natural blueprints for proper lifestyles and prevention of dis-ease.

Let me explain the photo in this letter. When I meet people in town they usually say,

On January 1, 2000, at 11am something happened to me that changed my life forever. I was just lying down resting in my bedroom. Something exploded in my spine. It felt like someone was sticking an ice pick in my back and out my gut. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t move. Both my legs and lower body shut down. There was no movement, just faint breathing. I said to myself, “this is it.” And that’s not all…

Within the next couple of hours I had doctors and therapists at my side. No one could figure out what was wrong. Specialists of whom I have respected and trusted for over 20 years had absolutely no idea why my body was shutting down. At one point everyone got together and said, “We’ve got to move him from this contorted position. He’s been motionless for several hours.” Well that decision was a big mistake. The moment they tried to lift my body, it was like a tire exploding inside of my spine. All of these top-notch doctors, specialists, my nine-month pregnant wife, and my two little boys were staring at me, while I lay motionless on the floor.

Then it happened. I remember the exact second my eyes caught my wife’s eyes. It was one of those moments where all craziness and intense activity vanished. It was just my wife and I; we stared at each other eyeball to eyeball, hand in hand, having one of those talks every couple dreads. We’d both known it for twelve hours or so. It was like a giant dead elephant lying there, rotting in the middle of the bedroom. She just kept walking around it, acting as if it wasn’t there because it was painful to do anything else.

“It” was the fact that our Chiropractic dreams were dead. I don’t know what was worse, the shame, the embarrassment, or the utter bone grinding frustration of being the only Chiropractor in town not able to move his legs.

Then finally someone said, “Why don’t we PRAY for Dr. John.” My wife knelt down next to me, along with Patricia, Irina, Dr. Joe (my brother), and our boys. You won’t believe what happened next! As my wife started to pray, she placed her hands on my chest. Instantly, they turned into what felt like two hot pokers. In fact, the color of her hands turned beet red. Although I thought it was over, it was just the beginning. It took about 40 days for my total recovery.

God is a faithful God!
