Death By Hospital
Dr. John Bellomo has been warning people about the pervasive use of prescription medications and of hospital stays for many years. Obviously, there are major emergencies where you can’t avoid such a trip but the more you adhere to health promoting practices, the better your chances of avoiding it.
Did you know that according to the World Health Org. “each year in the United States, 1.7 million infections are acquired in hospital, leading to 100,000 deaths, a far higher rate than in Europe where 4.5 million infections cause 37,000 deaths”?
“If you were admitted to hospital tomorrow in any country… your chances of being subjected to an error in your care would be something like 1 in 10. Your chances of dying due to an error in health care would be 1 in 300,” Liam Donaldson, the WHO’s newly appointed envoy for patient safety, told a news briefing.
Something is clearly amiss with our system of health care and it won’t be fixed by the current trend in Washington to force everyone into a broken system. You must take responsibility for your own heath before you become another sad statistic.
